The cause of the fire has not been determined.
The fire department would investigate any maintenance done on the facility, according to Greg Pixley of the Denver Fire Department.
Firefighters were called in to extinguish the fire after a sprinkler system activated, according to the report. He said they were lucky that the sprinklers stopped the fire from spreading.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene. There were no injuries and about 100 people were in the area for an event when the fire broke out.
If structural damage was sustained, firefighters will investigate.
The original Mile High Stadium was built in 1948 and was replaced in 2001 by Empower Field.
