Rimowa’s $1,720 Champagne Suitcase

I am not sure if this is cool, ridiculous, or both. It is more practical than Louis Vuitton's $39,000 airplane bag.

Rimowa is known for its high quality hard shell luggage, and has a loyal following. I've never seen anything like this before, but Rimowa has come out with some unique luggage pieces over the years.

You can buy luggage for your wine bottle at Rimowa. The Rimowa One Bottle Case is described as the ultimate piece for connoisseurs and can be purchased for $1,720.

I don't think this is new, but a friend just brought this to my attention and I couldn't help but share it.

How would one even use this?

Presumably you would buy something like this as a statement piece, rather than being practical. Even if this is more about style than anything else, I'm not sure how you'd use it.

• You’re probably not going to check a single bottle of wine on a plane, and for that matter you’d probably be better off packing a bottle of wine in a suitcase surrounded by soft materials
• In theory I suppose it’s a cute way to gift a bottle of wine to someone, though a $1,720 case certainly adds to the cost of gifting a bottle of wine
• I’m trying to think of other uses… do people frequently transport a closed, single bottle of wine?

Bottom line

Rimowa's $1,720 case for a bottle of wine is one of the most interesting items out there. I would love to see how someone uses this in real life.
