Some are better suited for basic work tasks, while some of the higher-end models can rival the best laptops you can buy. It doesn't mean that the right one for you is the one with more features.

Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2

One of the best Chromebooks on the market right now is theGalaxy Chromebook 2. It's the first Chromebook to feature a QLED panel, allowing for vivid colors and high contrast, and it offers better battery life than the convertible, which couldn't even make it five. We weren't fans of the Chromebook 2's plastic feel or its expensive price tag, but we were happy with the red model and liked its bright design.

The base model has an Intel Celeron 5205U processor, 4 gigabyte of RAM, and 64 gigabytes of storage. Best Buy is selling that particular model in both colors for $399, as well as the red model. The model we tested has an Intel Core i3-10110U chip, 8 gigabytes of RAM, and 128 gigabytes of eMMC storage for $549. Lenovo Chromebook Duet

If you're on a budget, we recommend the Lenovo Chromebook Duet. The portable 2-in-1 device has a kickstand cover and a keyboard. The device's lengthy battery life allowed us to use it for nearly 11 and a half hours, and we were able to use a variety of tabs and apps. You can easily switch between apps with a few finger gestures, and it uses a version of Chrome that is specially designed for tablets.

There are some tradeoffs with it starting at $299. This includes the Duet's small keyboard, lack of a headphone jack, and single USB-C port. It's not great for more advanced tasks, but it's fine for browsing and everyday work. The model with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of eMMC storage is on sale for $229 at Best Buy instead of $299. Lenovo ThinkPad C13 Yoga Chromebook

One of our favorites is the ThinkPad C13 Yoga from Lenovo. The C13 is marketed toward adults and professionals. It is the closest thing to a MacBook in the Chromebook world, with a strong processor and a solid, sturdy build that feels and looks premium. The convertible Chromebook has the same aluminum design, red Trackpoint in the center of the keyboard, and even a tiny webcam shutter as the premium Windows ThinkPads.

The C13 has an excellent keyboard and a host of privacy features that make it stand out from the crowd. It can smoothly run all kinds of programs and mobile games, and it is the first Chromebook to include the Ryzen 3000 Mobile C-series processors.

You can buy the ThinkPad C13 Yoga from Lenovo for $349 instead of $599 if you use the promo code NEWYEARC13YOGA at checkout. You can get the same configuration at both Walmart and Newegg for $349, however, the order will be fulfilled by Lenovo. Lenovo Flex 5 Chromebook

The Flex 5 is the best Chromebooks for the price, but it still looks and feels more premium. It features a sleek, backlit keyboard that is one of the better ones we have used on a Chromebook, along with a physical webcam shutter, front-facing speakers, and a decent port selection. The audio quality and battery life of the Flex 5 aren't great, however, with the latter only providing about five and half hours of runtime when we tested it.

The Flex 5 with an Intel Celeron 5205U processor, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of eMMc storage is on sale at Lenovo for $334.99, which is $9 off the regular price. Our review can be read.

Acer Chromebook Spin 713

The last-gen Acer Chromebook Spin 713 from 2020 was our pick for the best Chromebook before the newer model took the top spot last year. It lacks Intel's new 11th Gen processors and support for Thunderbolt 4, but it still has enough power to handle basic tasks and a spacious 3:2 touch display. It also has an excellent keyboard, a great port selection, a headphone jack, a microSD slot, and an HDMI port.

Best Buy is selling the previous-gen, 2020 model with 4GB of RAM, a 64GB SSD, and an Intel 10th Gen Core for less than the current $699 price. Our review can be read.

The last-gen Acer Chromebook Spin 713 is similar to the 2021 model, however, it lacks support for Thunderbolt 4 and is equipped with 10th Gen Intel processors.

Lenovo Chromebook Duet 5

It's not our top pick as far as Chromebooks go, but the Lenovo Chromebook Duet 5 comes with a keyboard attachment and a 13.3-inch screen. It offers between 10 and 12 hours of use between charges when used for everyday tasks such as browsing, chatting, and zoom. The Chromebooks doesn't come with a stylus, but it works better as a laptop than a tablet because it has a larger size, at least in our testing.

When you use the promo code DUET5DEAL1, you can get the convertible for $399.99, which is $100 off. Newegg and Walmart are selling the same configuration for $399.99, however, like with the ThinkPad C13 Yoga, it is sold and shipped via Lenovo. It's best price to date is $349.99 at Amazon, which is 80 off, if you can do with less storage. Our review can be read.

HP Chromebook x360 14a

The HP Chromebook x360 14a is an affordable option with great battery life and is a good fit for students in middle school. The Intel Pentium Silver N5030 processor is well-suited for web-based schoolwork, browsing, and basic activities students in this age range are typically required to do. The 14-inch laptop weighs over three pounds and comes with a decent array of ports, including a 3.5mm audio jack and a microSD card reader. You can use a wider range of laptop peripherals with theusb type a port.

One of the better prices for the Chromebook is at HP, which is selling the x360 with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of eMMC storage for $299.99.
