His experience starts with the invasion and the realization that he would soon have to flee his homeland, for which he needed money. Cash was out of the question. "I couldn't withdraw cash at all, because the queues to ATMs were so long, and I couldn't wait that much time," he said. However, he had a USB stick that contained around $2,000 in Bitcoin, equalling around 40% of Fadey's life savings. The funds on the drive were accessible to him with a unique passcode, allowing him to pay for his survival in another country. "I could just write my seed phrase on a piece of paper and take it with me," he explained. The story was first reported by CNBC.
