We are still pinching ourselves that we will soon be able to see Nic Cage playing Dracula. New photos from the set of Chris McKay's horror comedy Renfield, which stars Nicholas Hoult as the put-upon assistant of a certain famous vampire, make us even more eager to see Nicolas Cage in action.

The red velvet suit is good for hiding blood stains. There is an on-set snap of Hoult that suggests there will be a lot of red stuff in Renfield. Vampire accessorizing is essential because of the gaudy gold medallions and fingers full of rings. The make-up is perfect, with those pointed eyebrows, and the slicked-back hair with just a hint of a widow feels appropriate. It is a classic vampire look with a Cage twist. We don't know much about the story, we haven't heard him speak yet, and we don't know if it's a rip off of What We Do in the Shadows.
Cage has become more prolific in recent years. His performance as Spider-Man Noir in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Manverse was one of the highlights of his career. Last year brought the well-reviewed Pig, which sparked genuine albeit unrecognized Oscar buzz for Cage, and his performance in The Unbearable Weight, a meta-action flick.
The release date for Renfield is in 2023.
