One former division rival is hoping for a chance at an official workout after the Seattle Seahawks traded Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos.

According to Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times, Colin Kaepernick threw passes to a group of people, including a player. The former San Francisco 49ers signal-caller said he has talked to Pete Carroll and John Schneider about a possible workout and hopes to make something happen.

He said that he was still waiting for the chance to work with the team. Still hopeful. Still hoping that door is open so that I can walk through it.

This is not the first time that the quarterback has been connected to the team.

He had a meeting with the team. He worked out with Tyler Lockett and said he was ready for a return to the league.

After reaching out to him, Carroll told reporters that he deserved another chance in the NFL.

According to a source, the Nevada product is in the best shape of his life and ready to play.

He didn't shy away from his desire to return.

Colin Kaepernick @Kaepernick7

For The past 5 years I’ve been working out and staying ready in case an opportunity to play presented itself. I’m really grateful to my trainer, who I’ve been throwing to all this time. But man, do I miss throwing to professional route runners.

Who’s working?? I will pull up

He hasn't played in an NFL game since the 2016 season, when he threw for 16 touchdown and just four turnovers for the 49ers. He led San Francisco to the Super Bowl in 2012 and the NFC Championship Game in 2013), but has remained unsigned since opting out of his contract last year.

When he was a player for the 49ers, he protested against police brutality and racial injustice by kneeling during the national anthem. He and Eric were able to get a confidential settlement with the league after they alleged that there was a conspiracy to prevent them from signing with teams after the protests.

While it has been a while since Colin Kaepernick competed at the highest level, Seattle has an apparent opportunity for a quarterback competition following the Wilson trade and a head coach who has publicly said he deserves another opportunity.

It seems like it could be any situation.
