During Wednesday's Supreme Court confirmation hearings, Sen. Booker moved Supreme Court Nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson to tears as he spoke about her being the first Black woman to be nominated for the Supreme Court.

You didn't get there because of the left-wing agenda. The New Jersey Democrat told Jackson that he didn't get here because of dark money.

Jackson reached for tissues multiple times to wipe her tears from her face during Booker's emotional tribute, which included lots of praise for the judge's record and how she's inspired countless Black women.

Republican senators on the Judiciary Committee spent the day tearing into Jackson's record. She has been soft on child pornography because she imposed shorter sentences than federal guidelines recommend. Legal experts said that the accusations lack context that Jackson was within the mainstream and that the guidelines are outdated. Jackson, a mother of two daughters, defended her record and emphasized how serious she considers the crimes and takes her job as a judge. Jackson has been endorsed by several law-enforcement officials and organizations.

Booker told Jackson that they were going to accuse him of this and that, but they wouldn't worry. God has something for you. How do I know that? I know what it takes for you to sit in that seat.

Booker said the GOP criticism of Jackson would not steal his joy.

Booker was about to cry when he spoke about Jackson being the first Black woman to be nominated for the Supreme Court.

Booker held back tears as he said that he got emotional when he looked at you. You are a Christian. You are a mom. You are an intelligent person. You love reading. It is hard for me to look at you and not see my mom.

He said that nobody would steal that joy. You've earned this spot. You are deserving. You are an American.

The first Black woman to serve on the federal bench was brought up by Booker, who ran for president in 2020. During her confirmation process, a civil rights icon was accused of being a communist. He referred to Tubman as an important player in the Underground Railroad.

Booker said that Tubman was viciously beaten and faced starvation. Rest? She went back again and again. The sky was full of stars, but she found one that was a sign of hope for better days, not just for her and those people that were enslaved, but a sign of hope for this country.

As Jackson's nomination is considered by the committee, Booker thought about Tubman.

He told Jackson that he thought about her and how she looked up. The star was a sign of hope. You are my star today. You are a sign of hope.

Booker brushed off his shoulder. During his historic 2008 presidential run, President Barack Obama mentioned Jay-Z's rap about brushing dirt off your shoulders. Booker told Jackson not to worry. The very utterance of a claim that Beyonce can't sing would not make it true.

Whitehouse thanked Booker for changing the tone of the day.

Booker grew emotional as he talked about how he would react if Jackson is confirmed, a likely outcome given that she can be confirmed by Democratic votes alone.

He said that when you ascend onto the highest court in the land, he would be happy.
