According to a report by Adam Schefter, Malcolm Butler is returning to the New England Pats after agreeing to a two-year deal worth up to $9 million.

In August of last year, the Arizona Cardinals placed him on the reserve/retired list.

Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network reported earlier in the month that the player was considering retirement to deal with a personal issue.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported in February that he was planning a comeback after the Cards released him from the reserve/retired list.

New England has a player named Butler.

He played for four years with the Pats and three with theTitans before being released in March 2021.

He will forever be known as the Super Bowl XLIX hero after intercepting Russell Wilson in the final seconds of the game.

The Pro Bowl campaign in 2015 was followed by a fantastic finish to his first season. He had 44 passes defended and eight intercepts.

Tennessee signed him to a five-year, $6 million contract. He finished with a 27th-highest grade from the PFF.

The veteran had 100 tackles, four picks and 14 passes defended.

He joins a team that has a major need at a corner after losing J.C. Jackson to free agency. In the middle of last season, the squad traded away All-Pro defensive back Stephon Gilmore.

As he returns to the place where he began his career, he should have a significant role.
