It certainly hasn't been Minnesota's, as Carlos Correa has declared October his time.

Even if his stay in Minneapolis is short, the Twins hope he can fix that.

I want to build a championship culture in this organization.

The former Houston Astros star tugged on a Twins jersey and was formally introduced Wednesday, five days after agreeing to a $105.3 million, three-year contract.

The Twins have lost 18 straight playoff games since their last victory in 2004, the most recent of which was in the 2020 wild-card round when Carlos Correa hit a go-ahead home run.

The World Series champion, who hit a go-ahead home run against Boston in the playoffs, pointed to his wrist and said, "It's my time."

Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said that he elevated the confidence because the person had done it before.

It was part of the reason why small-market Minnesota went for such an unusual deal. The projected opening day payrolls in Baltimore, Pittsburgh and Cleveland are the same as the $35.1 million average salary of Correa.

The Twins ownership's financial commitment a year after finishing last in the American League Central stands out in a sport where so-called tanking fueled acrimony from players that led to a 99-day work stoppage.

The president of baseball operations said that the Twins chairman immediately supported them when he called on Friday.

He will have a chance to seek more after, as he will be baseball's highest-paid infielder this season.

William Morris Endeavor was the agent for the 27-year-old. He said that he was offered a shorter deal that could get him back to the market. They wanted a ballpark where Correa could thrive.

They hit a bull at Target Field. In 15 games in Minnesota, Correa has a 1.205 OPS.

When a player is comfortable in a ballpark, we knew there was a joint fit.

If he opts out after 2022, he would join a free-agent market that could also include the Dodgers, Boston and the White Sox. All of them are older than Correa.

He wants to make an impact in Minnesota. Last season, Correa hit 26 homers, 92 RBIs and an....................... He is a two-time All-Star, the 2015 American League Freshman of the Year, and has an..................

Astros owner Jim Crane said in a statement that Carlos is a very special person.

The club has several holdovers from the American League Central titles in the next two years, including Max Kepler, and a new double-play partner,Jorge Polanco. The two players who went 1-2 in the 2012 draft have known each other since high school.

Falvey said that Carlos is going to elevate it from his experiences and add to that group.

Baldelli sees it happening. Baldelli says that he has noticed that Correa has a precise manner of speaking around the club.

Baldelli said that they are making his teammates think and react differently and in a better manner.

When we are taking practice, we are looking for perfection. We want to build that culture here.

The top prospect, Royce Lewis, is being mentord by Correa. Lewis was paid back with a Hublot watch. Lewis was at the news conference with two other former Twins.

I accidentally took his number, said Correa.
