The Los Angeles Lakers will be without their star player in Wednesday night's game against the Philadelphia 76ers because of a knee injury.
James has battled a number of injuries throughout the season, including a sore ankle, abdominal strain and knee swelling, which have caused him to miss a few games.
He has averaged 30.0 points, 8.2 rebounds and 6.3 assists per contest when he has been healthy, shooting 52.3 percent from the field and 35.4 percent from three. He averaged 29.7 points per game in the 2009-10 season.
He has been one of the few bright spots for the Lakers, who have spent much of the year in disarray.
Anthony Davis has struggled to stay on the court with injuries. Russell Westbrook has been a bad fit with James and Davis. The team has a questionable roster construction that has left them without much balance. Frank Vogel has been on the hot seat a lot this season. The team is trying to get into the play-in tournament in the Western Conference.
Not the kind of season an 18-time All-Star, four-time MVP and four-time champion would want in their final years.
The Lakers don't want an injury to James as they attempt to tread water. Look for players like Anthony and Monk to take on bigger roles for the shorthanded Lakers.
