The reverse-chronological view will be brought back with the addition of two new modes that change how the main feed works. The company says the new modes give you more choice and control.

The description for the following feed is truly something to behold, as you can see the latest posts from accounts that you follow. That is what I want every social network to be.

Instagram says it’ll go on to make the main feed even less linear

You will be able to star up to 50 accounts, and the posts from them will show up higher in your main feed. You will be able to see the posts in a separate feed, which starts with the most recent ones.

In an email to The Verge, Kim said that the Favorites list is private to you and will not be visible to anyone else.

Everything has a price. In the press release announcing the change, Adam Mosseri wrote: "Over time, we're going to add more recommendations to your feed based on your interests."

That should be manageable if the Following feed stays in place. If I have to do a few more taps to get to what I want, it is what it is, just as long as that lovely chronological feed doesn't go away.

Adam Mosseri talked about it a few times last year, and some users have gotten to try it. Yesterday, it was teased on the social network. It should be on its way to everyone now. You can get to either of the alternative feeds by tapping on the logo in the top left corner when you are in the home tab.
