The company will not release its first phone, the Phone 1, this summer. Carl Pei, the CEO of Nothing, promised to reveal more about the upcoming device over the coming months.
The phone will run a modified version of the mobile operating system called Nothing OS, which captures the best features of the mobile operating system from the web. There will be no preview of its software vision in April through a launcher, only those with select phones will be able to download it.
It seems like Nothing hopes to follow in the footsteps of the company that left off before Pei left and merged with Oppo. Many long time fans of the company felt that the company had stopped providing them with the products they had come to know and love. When a report came out that Nothing had shown off a phone in private meetings at Mobile World Congress, those assumptions became a lot more real. Evan Blass shared a photo of Pei holding a phone in a meeting he had with the CEO of Qualcomm.
The Phone 1 was positioned as part of a broaderecosystem that will be open to other brands. He said his goal was to create an open and diverse product system that would allow people to use whatever device they want.
