NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg addresses a press conference at NATO Headquarters in Brussels on March 23, 2022.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said Wednesday the alliance is likely to bolster troops along its eastern flank.

During a press conference ahead of the NATO leaders summit in Brussels, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that he expects leaders to agree to strengthen NATO's posture in all areas.

NATO has put 140,000 troops in the region and has a huge war chest of advanced military equipment. The United States has given the lion's share to 100,000 soldiers.

NATO and the U.S. service members are not fighting with Russian forces inside of Ukraine.

NATO has more than 140 warships at the ready and 130 aircraft on heightened alert and warned Putin that an attack on a NATO member state will be viewed as an attack on all.

Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania are NATO allies of Ukraine. Poland has taken the lion's share of refugees fleeing Putin's war and currently hosts the majority of the troops from the 30-member alliance.

President Joe Biden, who is expected to travel to Poland after attending the NATO leader's summit on Thursday, said Wednesday that Putin's potential use of chemical weapons to attack Ukraine is a real threat.

Biden warned Putin that he could use false flags to justify a chemical or biological weapons attack.

Biden said that it was not true that the US had biological as well as chemical weapons in Europe.

They are suggesting that Ukraine has chemical and biological weapons. Biden said that it was a clear sign that he was considering using both of those.

The nature of the conflict in Ukraine would change if chemical weapons were used, according to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

It will be a blatant violation of international law and with far-reaching consequences, according to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

NATO will soon provide equipment to protect against chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear weapons, according to NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg. He wouldn't say what kind of support the alliance would provide.

Russia has used chemical weapons in the past.
