If you want a great deal on a lot of data and some of the best cell phone plans today, Visible and Mint Mobile are two of the most compelling carriers you can find. If you need the best possible coverage and have one of the few supported phones, Visible is the easy choice and offers an insane amount of value for just $40 a month. If you already have good coverage with T-Mobile and you don't have a phone that works on Visible, Mint Mobile is the better choice. You should be prepared to spend more money.

Things could not be simpler with Visible. There is only one plan that comes with unlimited talk, text, and 5G data. Many people see much more than 5-12Mbps when it comes to data speeds. In our review, we got these speeds or better.

It will be more than enough for most activities, including music, video streaming, and social media. In times of congestion, Visible will slow down, leading to some unexpected delays.

Where 5G is available, Visible includes it. Most of the time, you won't see speeds much faster than 200Mbps, since most of the 5G network is sharing the same spectrum.

The Visible plan includes free mobile hotspot usage and costs $40 per month, with taxes and fees included in the price. You will pay the same amount for your bill every month. You can pay as little as $25 per month without leaving the site.

If the party has at least four members, your bill is only $25 per month. While you used to need to know someone else with Visible or find a group on another site, Visible has launched a new community feature for its customers where they can easily join a party and reduce their bills. If you refer someone else to sign up, you can get your next bill for $5.

Visible vs. Mint Mobile: Mint Mobile plan breakdown

Mint Mobile does things in a different way. You pay for your plan month-to-month with just about every other provider, but Mint Mobile sells in bulk. If you look at the monthly rate, you can save a lot of money because you pay a higher upfront price.

4GB10GB15GBUnlimited
3 months (introductory price)$15/mo. ($45)$20/mo. ($60)$25/mo. ($75)$30/mo. ($90)
3 months$25/mo. ($75)$35/mo. ($105)$45/mo. ($135)$40/mo. ($120)
6 months$20/mo. ($120)$25/mo. ($150)$35/mo. ($210)$35/mo. ($210)
12 months$15/mo. ($180)$20/mo. ($240)$25/mo. ($300)$30/mo. ($360)

If you need more data, it can be added at a cost of $10 or 20 dollars. If you run out of data frequently, you can upgrade mid-cycle by paying the price difference.

You can purchase plans in three, six, and 12 months with your choice of data. If you exceed 35 gigabytes of usage, the unlimited plan will be slowed to 2G speeds. 5 gigabytes of high-speed hotspot data is not included in the price of unlimited. Mint Mobile has a package that will work for everyone.

You can save money on your monthly rate by buying more months in bulk. If you get 15 gigabytes of data on a 12-month plan, you would spend $300 upfront and pay $25/month. For comparison, a three-month plan for 15GB of data retails for $45 per month, although it is currently discounted to $25 per month for your first three months. For almost all of the plans, your monthly rate is lower, because Mint Mobile allows for a lot more customization.

Mint Family allows you to manage multiple lines on one account, even though Mint Mobile does not. Metro by T-Mobile is a good option if you are looking for a carrier with family savings. One benefit is that each person can have the amount of data that makes the most sense to them, and you can even request and share extra data from one line to another.

You can get a detailed look at the coverage in your area with interactive coverage maps from both Mint Mobile and Visible. Both have 5G coverage, though T-Mobile has a larger network. It is nice to see that both carriers have access to mid-band 5G.

Over the years, Verizon has established itself as having the best coverage across the United States compared to every other carrier. If you live in a rural area, chances are you have a support system like that from the other networks.

It is worth mentioning that Visible does not support 3G and does not have access to roaming partners. If you have great coverage, you should double-check the map.

T-Mobile is used by Mint Mobile. T-Mobile's network has improved a lot over the past few years and is now better than it has ever been, but there are many places where it is still superior. T-Mobile is the clear winner if you are only looking at 5G. If you use an older device, it might be time to upgrade.

Mint Mobile has an online coverage map that shows you exactly what service you can expect.

Visible vs. Mint Mobile: Only Mint Mobile offers international roaming

Mint Mobile is the only one that offers international roaming when it comes to international travel. If you want to stay connected while you are traveling abroad, you have to purchase an Up Roam credit of $5, $10, or $20, which will add to your international roaming balance.

Mint Mobile charges $0.05 per text message sent, $0.25 per minute for calls, and $0.20 per megabyte in a few countries. In Canada, prices are $0.06 per minute, $0.06 per text, and $0.06 per megabyte. Mint's international pricing is pretty competitive, even with other carriers, so if you travel a lot, it may be worth considering a carrier like Google Fi.

Both Mint Mobile and Visible offer free calling to Mexico and Canada for customers in the US.

Visible vs. Mint Mobile: What phones can you get on Mint Mobile and Visible?

A great carrier isn't so great if you can't use your phone on it.

All of your calls on Visible will use VoLTE because the network is all digital. Extra care is being taken to make sure the devices work perfectly, as VoLTE is still new for carriers. If you like to try out less popular phones, your device might not be supported.

It is possible for Visible to support any phone that was produced after the iPhone 6 and multiple other phones.

When it comes to supported phones, Mint Mobile shines. You can bring over virtually any unlocked phone that is compatible with the network and have it work perfectly. If you already own a Mint Mobile device, you can get a sim card or even use an eSIM to use it. You can buy nearly any of the best phones that are on the market.

If you get a device that supports T-Mobile's 5G network, you will be able to access it on every Mint Mobile plan for free.
