Steven Grant is a superhero with an identity disorder who is powered by an ancient Egyptian myth. The role required the actor to commit to challenging character work opposite himself; in many scenes, he had to perform full sequence as Moon Knight and his multiple personality. Anyone with siblings can relate to the tried-and-true method that was applied by Isaac.
The closest thing to me there is my brother, Michael, who I hired to come in and be the other me. It was really helpful to have someone who is a great actor and also my brother to help put on a show. It took a bit of finessing to do it for a superhero show.
Something that I didn't anticipate was how demanding that would be, having to show up and decide which character I was going to play first and then try to block that out, give my brother notes and then do the scene. It wasn't really an opportunity to do that and still have to find a way to make it feel different. That was a challenge.
Family rules dictate that brothers do favors for one another. This delightful chat about Oscar's childhood and most distinguishable features was definitely owed to his big bro, who is a journalist for the Miami New Times. Trust us, watch the video. Moon Knight is not the first time that Isaac has played multiple characters in one project. He shared some home videos of himself as a child playing The Avenger in his recent SNL opening monologue.
Moon Knight is on Disney+.
