Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead says that the team wants to re-sign wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., one of the biggest names still available in the second week of free agency.
In a video call with reporters on Tuesday, Snead said it was a complex situation given that Beckham is coming off a serious knee injury. He said re-signing Beckham would be similar to the receiver's arrival in 2021, given that he will likely be out well past the start of the 2020 season.
Snead said they would appreciate him being a part of that diversity of pass-catchers, and coming in later in the season and finishing things off with him.
Snead was asked if the franchise and its star defensive tackle are close to a new deal.
Snead said that they had talked with his representation and that they were trying to come up with a win-win solution to reward him. We are in progress there.
Von Miller leaving in free agency complicates the situation with Donald, was asked by Snead.
He said that it would be an interesting question for the player to ask. That has been articulated. Losing Von would be a question that would be best answered by Aaron.
Beckham Jr., 29, signed with the Rams in November after he was cut by the Cleveland Browns, and became a key player during Los Angeles' championship run. He caught 48 passes for 593 yards and seven touchdown in 12 games with the Rams. He scored the first touchdown for the Rams in the Super Bowl and then tore his left knee in the second quarter.
The Rams receiver corps has undergone a change. According to a source, the team signed Allen Robinson II last week and on Sunday agreed to trade Robert Woods to Tennessee in exchange for a sixth-round pick. Shortly after Beckham was signed by the Rams, Woods tore his knee.
