Chinese investigators are unable to find any survivors from the China Eastern Airlines plane that nosedived into a mountain. There were 132 people on the plane.
In a live-streamed press conference picked up by The Wall Street Journal, CNN, and other media outlets, Chinese crash investigators said a small army of 2,500 rescuers had combed through the scene. The plane's black box, which contains cockpit voice recorded data and other information that could prove critical to unraveling the mystery behind what caused the crash, is still missing.
What are we aware of so far?
The investigators lost contact with the crew of the flight as it flew over the city of Wuzhou. The plane plummeted 20,000 feet of altitude in less than a minute after it experienced a sudden altitude change. The flight was supposed to arrive in Guangzhou an hour later.
There is no way of coming to a clear view of the reasons for the crash with the information we have.
