During the Supreme Court confirmation hearing on Tuesday, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, questioned Jackson on critical race theory, an academic theory of racism that has been assailed by conservatives.

Teachers groups and schools argue that CRT is taught at the university level.

If confirmed, Jackson would be the first Black woman to sit on the Supreme Court.

She said that it was her understanding that it was taught in law schools.

Cruz said that the books were used at Georgetown Day School in Washington, D.C., where Jackson is a board member.

Posters with enlarged pages were displayed by an aide.

Cruz asked if he agreed with the book that was being taught to kids that babies are racist.

Jackson paused before answering.
