The father of a 35-year-old woman whose badly decomposing body was found in a car with her 3-year-old twins struggled for answers Tuesday as detectives worked to determine how they died.

Police said that the woman who lived in her car with her two children was identified Monday. The three people were identified by police.

An autopsy is scheduled to determine the cause of death for the three people who were found dead in a car parked at an apartment complex.

Melbourne police said Andrea Langhorst, 35, who lived off and on in her Cadillac with her two children, Olivia and Adam, was identified Monday. All three were discovered dead in the vehicle on Sunday.

It is still under investigation. We don't know how long they were there. She was living out of her car.

There is no reason for detectives to believe that there is a threat to the community because of the deaths.

Three bodies were found in a parked car.

Attendees say at remembrance for Palm Bay police chief that mental health struggles in law enforcement.

Randy Langhorst and his family were devastated by the news.

He contacted police last weekend to be on the lookout for his daughter, who hadn't been heard from since March 11.

We were looking for her and hadn't heard from her. That was not normal for her. Langhorst told FLORIDA TODAY that they wouldn't have daily contact with her.

She was a free spirit, smart as a whip, and lived her life to the beat of her own drummer. He said it was a tragedy and his voice was wavering with emotion.

The gruesome discovery was reported to the Melbourne police at 10:50 pm Sunday after a caller relayed a message that there was a suspicious vehicle parked at the apartment complex.

Within minutes, patrol officers arrived and confronted the gray Cadillac, which was emitting a foul smell near the trash bin. Reports show that the windows were fogged.

The remains of the mother and the twins were found inside the vehicle.

The vehicle and the remains were taken to the medical examiner's office to be examined for evidence of trauma.

If drug use was a factor, a blood toxicology was scheduled.

It is not known if the three died at the same time, or if the mother died first and the children later. The detectives were hoping to review the video of the car as it pulled into the parking lot and see if there was any interaction with anyone.

Randy Langhorst thinks drugs may have been a factor in his daughter's death. Court records show that Langhorst had been to drug court.

The father of the children is in jail awaiting trial.

The twins were her pride and joy. Maybe the car was running and she fell asleep, or maybe the fumes overwhelmed them. Langhorst said that he didn't know.

During the holidays, she and the twins stayed with her parents. They shared Thanksgiving as the grandparents watched the movie "Shrek" with Adam and taught him how to swim.

Langhorst said thatOlivia was a little more outgoing.

Her father said that she lived in her car and stayed off the radar.

She was in good spirits when he last saw her.

Her father said that her parents talked to her multiple times about the possibility of the grandkids staying with them, but that she was adamant about keeping her children.

It was done. She made the decision. We did not approve of her lifestyle. He said that he would be kicking his butt for the rest of his life.

All I can think about is those babies.
