As the Cleveland Browns try to find a landing spot for Baker Mayfield, it doesn't sound like the Carolina Panthers are going to make an offer.

The Carolinas are not interested in acquiring Mayfield despite some reports to the contrary.

Even before the Texans traded Deshaun Watson to the Cleveland Browns, the player made it clear he wanted to be traded.

The relationship is too far gone to mend. It is in the best interests of both sides to move on.

When it seemed like the Browns weren't going to be the landing spot for Watson, they initially weren't going to grant the request.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported Monday that the Carolina and New Orleans Saints might be the leading candidates for the quarterback position.

New Orleans re-signed Jameis Winston on Tuesday.

According to The Athletic's Jeff Howe, there have been preliminary talks with the Carolinas and Seattle.

The Carolina Hurricanes have two quarterbacks under contract for next season. The final year of his contract is coming up. He threw for 2,528 yards, nine touchdown and 13 turnovers in 12 games last season.

The situation could be complicated because he had labrum surgery. He had an injury in Week 2 when he tried to make a tackle after throwing an interception.

According to Jake Trotter, the Browns said that he would need four to six months of recovery time after his surgery. He will make $18.9 million in the final season of his contract.

Over the past four seasons, the No. 1 overall pick in the draft has had an inconsistent career. In the 2020 playoffs, he led Cleveland to its first playoff win since 1994 but threw for a career-low 3,020 yards and 17 touchdown. He has a 29-30 record in 59 starts with the Cleveland.
