You don't need a business or creator account to tag products in your posts now that the feature is open to all users in the US. Over the next few months, the feature will start rolling out to everyone, and you will be able to purchase the same look that your friend is wearing in their posts.

Product tags were first rolled out in 2016 as part of the platform's initial push into e- commerce. The platform added a native checkout feature that lets you buy products directly from tags and also gave creators the ability to tag products in their posts.

To tag a product, start by creating a post. You can hit the tag products option after you choose your filter and make any adjustments. If you want to add a tag to your photo or video, you need to tap the product in your photo or video. Other users will be able to see the product tags in your post and make a purchase.

1.6 million people tag at least one product per week on the photo sharing service. Expanding the feature to its entire user base will help expand the visibility of products through organic, non-sponsored posts that could open an entirely new market of users wanting to share the products they use with friends.

When one of their products is tagged, business owners will receive a notification on their profile. From their account settings, brands will be able to turn tags from everyone on the platform.
