The war with Russia is approaching its four-week mark, and Ukrainian forces retook a strategically important suburb of Kyiv on Tuesday.

The Associated Press reported that the Defense Ministry of Ukraine said troops were able to regain control of the area.

Russian forces were able to gain ground in other suburbs around the capitol city.

The AP said that the Russian troops did not advance in most other areas of the country. Russian forces have fired more than 1,000 missiles.

The battle for Mariupol continued Tuesday, with residents fleeing the city saying dead bodies are scattered on the ground, according to the AP.

According to the United Nations, more than 3 and a half million Ukrainians have fled the fighting.

The request for a no-fly zone by the Ukrainian President was denied by the Biden administration.
