Leonard Fournette, the running back who visited with the New England Pats on Monday, will sign a three-year, $21 million deal with the Buccaneers, according to sources.

The deal could reach $24 million with incentives, according to sources.

When Fournette was placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, he was the sixth-ranked running back in the league with 1,266 yards from scrimmage and averaged 4.5 yards per carry. He missed the wild-card game and returned in the divisional round.

After signing his second one-year deal with the Bucs, Fournette, 27, rushed for 822 yards and scored 10 total touchdown. He caught 69 passes for 454 yards.

He had his best game in Week 12 when he rushed for 100 yards on 17 carries and had seven catches for 31 yards. He scored his fourth and final touchdown with 29 seconds remaining in that 38-31 victory.

Fournette earned the nickname "playoff Lenny" and later "Lombardi Lenny" while leading the Bucs with 448 scrimmage yards and four touchdown in their playoff run.

After backing up Ronald Jones for the majority of the 2020 season, Fournette seized the opportunity when Jones suffered a broken finger, went on the reserve/COVID-19 list and suffered a quad injury in the 15th week of the season.

Fournette was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars after they declined to pick up his fifth-year option. In his best season as a Jaguar, Leonard Fournette rushed for a career-best 1,152 yards and caught 76 passes for 522 yards and three touchdown, despite being benched in crunch time.

In 63 career regular-season games, he has 3,810 rushing yards with 31 rushing touchdown and 239 reception for 1,696 yards and four touchdown catches.
