Stormy Daniels Says She'd Rather Go To Jail Than Pay Donald Trump After Losing Appeal

After losing an appeal in her defamation lawsuit against the former president, adult film actor Stormy Daniels said she will go to jail.

A federal appeals court upheld a lower court ruling that Daniels pay Trump $300,000 in attorney's fees.

Friday's ruling capped a lengthy legal battle between Daniels and Trump over her allegation that she had sex with him in 2006 and was bribed to stay quiet about it. A judge dismissed the defamation suit against Trump after he said his statements were protected by the First Amendment.

Michael Cohen, Trump's then-fixer, admitted to making payments to Daniels and another woman to keep them from telling their stories. Cohen was sentenced to prison for violating campaign finance laws.

Avenatti was convicted last month of cheating Daniels out of hundreds of thousands of dollars in a deal for a book about her alleged tryst with Trump.

After the appeals decision sided with him, Trump said it was a "total and complete victory" and a "vindication" for him.

The lawsuit was a political stunt that never should have been allowed to happen, and I am pleased that my lawyers were able to bring it to a successful conclusion after the court fully rejected her appeal.
