The NHL is reexamining a completed trade between the Vegas Golden Knights and Anaheim Ducks because it might violate the no-trade clause of forward Evgenii Dadonov.

The Knights traded Dadonov to the Anaheim Ducks along with a second-round pick and Ryan Kesler's contract. The Vegas second-round pick would be given to the Ducks.

Hours after the trade was announced, Vegas became aware of an issue with respect to the trade. The league office has been consulting with us.

Dadonov had a limited no-trade clause in his contract, which he signed in October 2020. Dadonov's contract says he can't be traded without a 10-team no-trade list. The no-trade list had the Ducks on it.

Dadonov believes that the list for the upcoming season had to be submitted by July 1, 2021.

There was no mention of the trade protection on the call with the Senators and the NHL when the Golden Knights traded for Dadonov in July 2021.

The NHL Players' Association reached out to the NHL about the legitimacy of the trade.

Dadonov has 27 points in 62 games this season for the Knights, who acquired him for a third-round pick and a defenseman.

Dadonov is in the second year of a three-year deal and carries a $5 million cap hit. Vegas had to clear $3.375 million in salary-cap space after burying Moore's salary.
