With WarnerMedia's new streaming platform, HBO Max, set to launch in the spring of 2020, Cartoon Network Studios announces that beloved animated series, , is being revived to appear on the platform. Titled Adventure Time: Distant Lands, the program will air on HBO Max in four hour-long specials. The first two are slated to premiere in 2020.

Each Adventure Time: Distant Lands special will focus on a different character or set of characters, with the final installment reuniting Finn the human and Jake the dog.

Cartoon Network Studios, who produced the original series, is responsible for HBO Max's Adventure Time catalog. Beginning in 2010, the show, which centered around 12-year-old Finn and his magical dog, Jake, aired for nine seasons on Cartoon Network before calling it quits in 2018.
