The Houston Texans traded Deshaun to the ClevelandBrowns in a deal for him in 2022. It appears that they won't let Baker Mayfield go for cheap.
Albert Breer of SportsIllustrated.com said that the Cleveland will likely have to adjust its price in order to move the veteran.
If anyone thinks the Browns are going to get a high premium pick for Baker Mayfield, they are mistaken.
The relationship with the franchise was unmendable, as evidenced by the fact that he requested a trade before the team acquired him. It was in the best interests of both sides to part ways.
According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, the first overall pick preferred to be traded to the Indianapolis Colts.
The Colts were never as sweet on Baker as they were on him.
Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan was traded to the Colts for a third-round pick. It is not known if the price tag on Mayfield had any impact on the team's decision to pursue someone else.
As the days go on, the options dwindle. The New Orleans Saints re-signed Jameis Winston, according to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network. It is not clear if either team is interested in moving to Carolina or Seattle.
The asking price for Cleveland is high because of his inconsistency. He completed 60.5 percent of his passes for 3,010 yards, 17 touchdown and 13 interceptions in 14 games in 2021, though he did struggle with a shoulder injury through most of the season.
If he is not traded this year, he will be able to sign as a free agent in 2023.
