The United States will be without a player in the final three World Cup qualifers after he injured his knee in Austria.

After reviewing the updated medical information and consulting with Red Bull Salzburg, we have decided not to play him in the upcoming World Cup qualification matches.

Unfortunately, that will not be the case, as we were hopeful he would be able to recover in time.

The American team is not sure if he will be replaced on the roster.

The only U.S. player to appear in all of the first 11 was the 21-year-old from New Jersey. He scored against Canada and Honduras. This season, he has three goals.

Weston McKennie, Sergino Dest, and Matt Turner are all missing from the U.S.

After missing the World Cup, the U.S. will play at Mexico on Thursday, host Panama three days later, and close out the competition at Costa Rica on March 30.

Canada has 25 points in North and Central America and the Caribbean. The U.S. is ahead of Mexico on goal difference. Costa Rica has 16 points, followed by Panama with 17 and El Salvador with nine.
