Frank Lampard
Former Derby and Chelsea boss Lampard took over at Everton in January

Chris Sutton says that Frank Lampard may regret questioning their courage and criticising his struggling squad.

After the FA Cup quarter-finals, where they were beaten by Crystal Palace, Lampard wondered if his players had the right mentality.

He has to take responsibility as the manager.

The team is one place above the bottom of the table.

The team are in an absolute mess, but his language was very strong, questioning the side's courage.

He talked about how he doesn't have a magic wand to change the whole squad. Is that not his job?

I wonder ifLampard will regret some of the things he has said because it can be damaging within the dressing room.

It's not a good dressing room at the moment, but when you start questioning player's courage, there may be a problem.

He slaughtered his players and yet he needs these players to keep him up, so what he said is very, very dangerous. It is a big risk to say what he did and see if the players react.

He had a difficult job to take on, most of the blame lies with the previous manager, but he hasn't made an impact which the fans expected him to.

In the past 12 games, they have only won four times, but they did win their last match in the league. He broke his hand celebrating on the touchline.

There is only so much you can do to give your players confidence, said Frank Lampard after the defeat by Palace.

I wonder if Frank was brave when he took the job, I thought he was. The club was in a mess. This was going to be difficult for him.

His words at the weekend worried me a little bit, and they worried me because I thought for the first he might be questioning himself in taking the job.

If things don't work out here, where does Frank go? He is an intelligent man, but the way he is talking causes a lot of frustration.
