Pickett laughs off showing hand size to Panthers staff (0:24)

The media makes it a bigger deal than it is with the coaches, according to Kenny Pickett. (0:23)

Maybe it was a friendly tape measure.

Whatever it was, Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett's hand size increased by an inch from his official NFL scouting combine measurement.

The reason why I have been doing them is because of the stretches work. If it helped me get an eighth of an inch, I will take it.

Even with the slightly bigger measurement, the smallest of any starter or notable backup would still be Pickett. The next-smallest measurement is 8 inches by Taysom Hill.

The chatter around the measurement is overblown, even though the hand size of Pickett would make him an outlier.

Lucas Krull said to look at the tape. You cannot find it in the game film. He shows that he can throw a 65 yard ball on the dot, if you think he has small hands. I don't think it's an issue.

At Pitt's pro day workout, which was held in the indoor facility, the projected first-round pick threw a few deep passes that traveled at least 60 yards in the air.

The passes that were thrown to the two players felt more zip to them than they did during the season, and they both said that adding arm strength has been a point of emphasis in his workouts.

He said that there are different ways to work arm strength and that he takes a leap forward in strength and agility every year. I believe all of that is tied in today. I was able to put the ball out there more and throw it with a good rhythm.

Dozens of scouts, coaches and front-office staff from the Pittsburgh Steelers, Washington Commanders and other teams watched as Pickett went through a script of more than 50 throws. A couple were overthrown.

It is another sign that the hand size of Pickett is not a problem.

He said hand size has not been a problem because he has slung 60-yarders to us.
