Awards season hit a high note this weekend as multiple guilds and groups gave awards leading up to the grand finale, the Oscars, which happen this coming Sunday. One of the biggest to do so was the Writers Guild of America, and apparently one specific category saved the world, at least according to an animated talking clock from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The universe-saving news happened over in television, as Don't Look Up took the screenplay award in the movie category. The popular Succession won Best Writing in a Drama Series, while the hilarious Hacks won for Best Writing in a Comedy Series. It makes a lot of sense if you follow the awards circuit. They have won everything.
What if they didn't? Succession was up against The Morning Show, Yellowjackets, and Marvel's Loki in the Drama category. We're going to focus on that last one. The acceptance speech the writers submitted to air was revealed by showrunner and head writer Michael Waldron.
Succession was supposed to win according to Miss Minutes. Which it did. The TimeVariance Authority would have been notified of a diverging timelines and would have pruned us all. The universe has been saved. The Roy family has done something good.
