The lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles on Friday by Gennadiy Golovkin against Oscar De La Hoya and Golden Boy.

According to the complaint, GGG wants to be paid interest on Golden Boy's outstanding debt. The financial upside of the event was part of the funds that were paid by July 6, 2021.

After Golden Boy received the first $2.5 million in net ticket revenue, Golovkin was entitled to 45% of all gross revenue.

The money was due within 10 days of the pay-per-view buys, according to the suit. The suit does not state when Golden Boy was paid. The 160-pound championship bout generated over one million pay-per-views and over 27 million ticket sales.

GGG has allegations of contract, fiduciary duty, conversion, constructive trust and accounting. He wants a jury trial.

The sum of $9,000,000 was incorrect due to an accounting error by a native of the country, who now lives in Los Angeles. According to court documents, Golden Boy delivered a revised accounting report that showed GGG was due more money.

According to the suit, Golden Boy has refused to pay. The boxer seeks at least $450,000 in sponsorship revenue, $177,458 in other funds simply not paid though listed on Golden Boy's own accountings, and approximately $31,500 in expenses incurred by the postponement of the second fight.

A Golden Boy spokesman wouldn't comment on the lawsuit.

Golovkin will return to Japan on April 9 for a title unification fight. They will meet a third time on Sept. 17 if GGG beats Bivol on May 7.

He was released from his contract after he sued Golden Boy. He signed a multifight deal with Matchroom Boxing, which would have promoted the fight. The suit didn't name him.
