CD Projekt Red has announced that it is working on a brand-new game, which will kick off a new saga for the franchise, and the first new mainstream title in the series since The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
CD Projekt Red will use Unreal Engine 5 for the upcoming game, which will be the company's first use of the new engine.
CDPR will continue to use REDengine for some current projects, like the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077.
There is obviously no release date at this time
There are no further details about the new title, such as a development time frame or release date, being provided at this time. CD Projekt Red games take a long time to develop, so it could be some time before we get more information.
The development period for Cyberpunk 2077, which was first announced in 2012 and was delayed numerous times, finally came to fruition in December 2020. The release was rife with issues and bugs that CD Projekt Red is still ironing out over a full year after release.
Even if the details of a new title are slim, it's still exciting. The franchise is riding to new heights of popularity thanks to the ongoing series, and it's easy to see why CDPR would be looking to kick.
