Inside The 2016 E3 Electronic Entertainment Expo

Haven Studios was founded and led by Jade Raymond, a veteran game designer. Haven is one of the first-party Sony studios, after the two companies announced a partnership just over a year ago. The price was not disclosed.

Raymond said in a post that the first title from Haven will be a new game, but it's not clear when we'll be able to play it. Here is her description of the game.

Our first new IP for PlayStation is on track to deliver a AAA multiplayer experience with a vision to build a systemic and evolving world focused on freedom, thrill, and playfulness that will keep players entertained and engaged for years.

The game could be an exclusive for the PS5 according to the press release. Jim Ryan and Raymond both said that the game will use the power of the PS5 to create new worlds that inspire players.

The Haven acquisition follows Sony's major announcement that it plans to acquire the creator of the hit game, "Destiny." Both of these announcements signal Sony's intent to get into live service games in a big way. Investing in live service games allows us to build larger worlds and create really meaningful social connections between players. Sony wants to bring its own take on live service games like Call of Duty: Warzone to the PS platforms, as well as the massive financial success of live service games like Fortnite.

Haven Studios was established by Raymond after he led the first-party games studio for Stadia. She has held roles at several studios.
