Carter is going to the Falcons.
On Monday, a source confirmed to Michael Rothstein that the Falcons have signed a one-year contract with the LB.
Atlanta adds a pass-rusher. The team released Dante Fowler Jr. The Falcons had fewer sacks than any other team.
The franchise needed to change the edge rusher room more than any other position. Carter gives Dean Pees at least one experienced edge rusher to work with. Atlanta may add more pass-rushing help through the draft and free agency.
Carter was a third-round pick in the NFL draft. He tore his left leg in Week 5 of the 2020 season, just when it appeared he was going to have a big season.
It took Carter a while to get going after the injury. He didn't have a sack in the first 13 games, but he finished strong, showing the promise that had the Giants singing his praises the previous year. He played the best football of his career in the last four weeks.
Carter was a member of the Giants for four seasons and had 15 passes defended and 15 tackles in 49 games.
His five sacks last season were a career high. He did not top five sacks in a season at Georgia.
