Trent Brown is a free agent.

Brown agreed to a two-year deal with the franchise, according to his agents.

Brown's return helps solidify the right side of the offensive line, as starting right guard Shaq Mason was traded to the Buccaneers at the start of free agency.

The trade of Mason helps solidify where third-year tackle/guard Mike Onwenu will play this season. Onwenu is a starting guard.

It was the second time the team traded for Brown, this time for him in March 2021, after they acquired him from the Las Vegas Raiders. Brown is the fourth player in the last 30 years to be traded to the same team multiple times.

Brown was hurt on the opening series of last season and missed the rest of the season. After missing the next eight games, he settled into a starting role at right tackle and finished the year with nine straight starts, helping solidify New England's offensive line as one of the strengths of the team.

In his two seasons with the Raiders, Brown appeared in just 16 of a possible 32 games due to injuries.

When he returned to New England in 2021, Brown said he had never been more proud to wear a Pats jersey.

Brown has played at both the right and left tackle in the NFL.

The free-agent market is still being looked at by the Pats. They will host free-agent CB Malcolm Butler, free-agent RB Leonard Fournette and restricted free-agent G Ryan Bates.
