A new tech demo called "Enemies" shows what the popular game development engine can do.
The video opens in an ornate and stunningly realistic room before showing a woman sitting in front of a chessboard. The woman is rendered in remarkable detail, with her hair shifting in subtle ways as she moves her head, her eyes looking around the room, and the final close-up shot of her face looking almost as if it was her.
The work in Unity builds on the work in The Heretic. She said that the focus of the company was to bring accessibility and ease of creation through its tools, to help people create interactive stories more quickly and with less complexity.
The videos help show how Unity competes with Unreal Engine, which is used in game development and entertainment. Weta Digital, the maker of The Lord of the Rings visual effects, was acquired by Unity for $1.6 billion.
