The Golden State Warriors had a chance to start their two weeks without Stephen Curry on a good note.

They were trailing the San Antonio Spurs by 10 in the third quarter, but they fought back. The Warriors had two chances to take the lead as the game entered its final minute, but they missed.

Two fouls against the Warriors and one against them changed the outcome of the game and gave them a loss.

The fouls at the end were strange. Warriors coach Steve Kerr said he was shocked. To call fouls in that situation, one went against us and the other went against us. I am not sure how we can decide the game based on plays that have nothing to do with the game. The game is supposed to be decided by players.

Thompson missed a jump shot. A step-back jumper is missed by Poole. Andrew Wiggins was sent to the line after being called for a foul for grabbing the offensive board.

If it wasn't for the ensuing play, the Warriors might not have had a one-point lead. The Spurs were called for a foul after the ball was recovered. Keldon Johnson got the shot at the buzzer after Poeltl split his foul shots.

Kerr said that it was up to Wiggs to create space and get someone a game-winning look. He got stuck. This is how every play ends.

Kerr was happy with how his team played. The Warriors lost Draymond Green in the third quarter after he picked up two technical fouls.

Kerr said he was surprised that Green picked up his second technical foul after picking up his first. While Kerr said Green never cursed at the referees or made it personal, he never stopped barking.

He understands what it takes to get the second one once he gets the first one. Kerr said that he did not think he deserved it. He knows we are short-handed.

The Warriors loss to the Spurs kicks off a difficult final stretch of the schedule that will have direct playoff implications. The Warriors will play two back-to-back series during their upcoming five-game road trip, one of which ends at the Memphis Grizzlies, who are a game and a half ahead of the Warriors.

The Warriors will host the Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers and Utah Jazz once they are home.

As they play more games that do, they understand that the one that got away to San Antonio could haunt them.

We have to understand that we are undermanned, we have 11 games left, and we are looking at the playoffs. There needs to be a sense of competitive fight that we take to the other team from the beginning.
