The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Federation provided a statement to ESPN on Sunday that said that snowboard coach Peter Foley was no longer with the organization.
As of March 20, 2022, Peter Foley is no longer employed by the U.S. Ski and Snowboard. Rob Fagen will act as interim head coach while we conduct a national search for a new head coach.
It was not clear whether he resigned or was terminated. The current members of the U.S. snowboard team received an email from the federation on Sunday notifying them of the departure of their coach.
The U.S. Center for SafeSport temporarily suspended Foley on Friday, pending a formal investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct made by several women last week.
According to Howard Jacobs, the attorney for Mr. Foley, any allegations of sexual misconduct being made against him are false.
Jacobs refused to comment on the departure of Foley.
During the Beijing Olympics in February, a former snowboardcross athlete, Callan Chythlook-Sifsof, wrote a series of posts on social media accusing Foley of sexual misconduct and two male athletes of inappropriate behavior. The U.S. Ski and Snowboard said at the time that it was investigating the allegations.
The U.S. snowboard team had seven Olympic games under the direction of Foley. Men and women won a combined 35 Olympic medals.
