Several prominent Republican criticized Big Tech after a New York Times report said emails recovered from a laptop Hunter Biden abandoned at a repair shop in Delaware have been authentic.

The contents of the laptop were published by The New York Post in September 2020.

Hunter Biden is being investigated by a grand jury for his international business dealings. The 25th paragraph contained a reference to emails between Hunter Biden and an associate that were obtained from a cache of files that appears to have come from a laptop abandoned by Mr. Biden in a Delaware repair shop.

The Washington Post reported that social media sites suppressed the story in the weeks leading up to the 2020 presidential election due to questions about the laptop's provenance. The decision by The New York Post to publish material from the laptop was controversial, even though Fox News declined to run the story.

The New York Post reported on Saturday that Rep. Tenney told them that Congress must be involved in Big Tech censors.

In 2020, the Times cast doubt on the validity of the laptop story but played no direct role in suppressing it.
