According to multiple reports, the Boston Red Sox have agreed to a six-year, $140 million contract with Trevor Story.

Story hit a crowded free-agent field, which also included Carlos Correa, Marcus Semien, Javier Baez, andCorey Seager.

The concern with any player who built his career with the Colorado Rockies is that his career numbers are skewed by the fact that he plays half his games at Coors Field. Nolan Arenado, DJ LeMahieu and Troy Tulowitzki all became better road hitters with worse home splits after leaving Colorado.

Story could be moved to second base. Story was a Gold Glove finalist in the National League and ranked among the best in the majors at his position, but he has never played a position other than the infield at the major league level.

In the past, the 28-year-old has shown big power, hitting 37 and 35 homers in the past, but that number will drop to 24 in 2021. Story became the fastest shortstop to ever hit 100 homers in a single year. He was one of the best players in Colorado history, ranking in the top 10 in homers, doubles, triples and stolen bases.

He is ranked among the fastest players in the sports, with an average speed of over 27 feet per second in all six seasons in Colorado.

USA Today reported that the Red Sox had an agreement with Story.
