The head of Russia's space organization said that the country's three cosmonauts were not wearing yellow space suits to show their support for Ukraine.

The astronauts boarded the International Space Station on Friday wearing suits made from blue and yellow, the same colors as the Ukrainian flag. Global news outlets wondered if they were trying to make a statement against the war, but Russia pushed back.

Sometimes yellow simply means yellow, according to the English translation provided by Google.

The suits were inspired by the university all three of the cosmonauts attended, according to the reply.

Under no circumstances will Bauman University graduates be forced to wear their alma mater's coat of arms.

The men might be honoring the university, but others pushed back because of what one said during the filmed welcome ceremony. Eric Berger, senior space editor atArs Technica, shared a translation of a statement from a space exploration fan who said that Oleg Artemyev told fellow crew members that there was too much yellow fabric in the warehouse.

Artemyev has been photographed in similar colors before, like in the below photo taken from his 2015 post.

Rogozin’s Reality

It's hard to say what's going on with these space suits. Artemyev didn't mention his alma mater when asked about his suit color.

People are going to believe the story they like the most and we aren't likely to hear an explanation from the cosmonauts themselves. It wouldn't be safe to make a more direct statement because of their president's violence against protestors. Their space chief is known for childish arguments with world leaders and has a hot temper, and he is the only one of them giving statements to the global press at the moment.

At least for the three Russian men aboard the International Space Station, it is the reality until we hear otherwise.

There is more on the Ukrainian conflict.
