The Jets need a perimeter weapon and could draft a receiver such as Drake London in the first round. Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

There is a look at what is happening around the New York Jets.

1. What is going on at WR? Davante Adams has changed teams in recent days. Allen Robinson is a person. The man is Amari Cooper. Robert Woods. Christian Kirk and D.J. Chark were lesser known.

The Jets are one of only four teams without a 1,000-yard receiver or tight end on their roster, so they have stayed out of the wide receiver market. It is fair to wonder if Wilson needs another perimeter option.

What is the plan?

The general manager has three options. For him, and for the Jets, the roads are not frequently traveled.

Since 2001, the Jets have not used a first-round pick on a wide receiver, which is tied with the Seattle Seahawks. That is not a Douglas thing; he has only had two drafts.

Douglas has traded 16 players in two years, but hasn't made a big move for an impact player. He is willing to make a bold move now more than ever, but he has not found a deal that makes sense. The ideal trade would be for a receiver in his prime, so he could grow with Wilson. The teams have been told that he is not available.

Woods was traded by the Los Angeles Rams to the TennesseeTitans for a sixth-round pick in the 2023 draft. It doesn't sound like there was much interest in the situation. His age was a turnoff.

The Jets have been shopping for a receiver, but the market changed due to tags, extensions and one ridiculous contract. Douglas pivoted by signing two tight ends. He needs a wideout.

The hunch is that Douglas will sign a midlevel free agent and then use a first-round pick on a receiver. There are no Ja'Marr Chase players in this year's crop.

You hope that Douglas can deliver a weapon for Wilson.

There will be an increase in personnel with the additions of C.J. Uzomah and Tyler Conklin. They ran it a lot last season, often with Trevon Wesco as a tight end hybrid.

The offense will look more like the Green Bay Packers and less like the San Francisco 49ers with two proven tight ends. The 49ers prefer a two-back offense. Wesco did not work out in that role.

Uzomah thinks his partnership with Conklin will produce big results.

I needed his number when I heard that he signed. I need to talk to my guy quickly and let him know that we have a tandem in the tight end room that is going to be dirty.

Conklin thinks he and Uzomah can be one of the best tight end duos.

3. Did you know? Chris Herndon was the only Jets tight end in the past 10 years to reach 500 yards in a season. He became Conklin's backup when he was traded to the Minnesota Vikings.

4. A lot of fans want the Jets to draft Kayvon Thibodeaux because they need an edge rusher and he is a big name. I would be surprised if they took Thibodeaux with the fourth pick.

One scout said that he lacks the natural bend to be an elite outside pass-rusher. Todd McShay questioned his fire. He spends too much time talking about off-the-field interests, which talent evaluators wonder about his commitment to football.

The emerging narrative makes me believe that he is not a good fit for the coach of the Jets.

5. Darrelle Revis celebrated his selection by the Jets at a draft party at his home. Jordan was one of the people in the house.

The same person who just signed a two-year, $14.5 million contract to play safety for the old team.

He considers Revis a big brother and has a good relationship with him. Revis gave him some words of wisdom. The Jets are a great organization and you are just a piece to the fire that needs to start burning, according to Revis.

They need a match.

6. The ball hawk needs to be added, along with the return of Lamarcus Joyner, to improve the safety situation. Some people in the scouting community still think the Jets could draft Kyle Hamilton, who would be an ideal complement to Whitehead. The Jets allowed a league-high 33 completions of 20-plus air yards.

7. The most impressive thing about the Jets free-agent class? Uzomah, Conklin, D.J. Reed, and Jacob Martin are all coming off career years. It shows that they are ascending players.

There are 8. The Jets had a terrible draft history and the departures of Marcus Maye and Folorunso Fatukasi were cruel reminders of that.

The longest-tenured draft pick is defensive tackle Nathan Shepherd, who re-signed for the veterans minimum of $1 million and a modest $50,000 signing bonus. Quincy Enunwa, the last draft pick to get a multiyear extension, only played one game due to injuries.

There are 9. The idea that Douglas doesn't spend money in free agency is a bit deceiving. For the second year in a row, he gave out more than $80 million in guarantees. The difference between him and other GMs is that he spreads it around. It is the right approach, though it has yet to deliver results on the field.

10. Before the Super Bowl, Uzomah made headlines when he said he would bathe in Cincinnati's famous Skyline chili if the Bengals beat the Rams. If the Jets make the playoffs for the first time in 12 years, Uzomah said he would dress up like Alexander Hamilton and walk down the street. I am a big musical guy.
