Two of the world's largest oilfield service companies have stopped operations in Russia because of US sanctions.

It would take immediate effect according to news releases from both companies.

According to Oil Industry Insight, Schlumberger is the world's largest oilfield company service.

New investment and technology deployment to the company's operations in Russia was suspended by the chief executive officer. The company will fulfill any existing activity in full compliance with international laws.

Le Peuch said that safety and security are at the core of who they are as a company.

In its news release, the company said that it had halted all shipments of specific parts and products to Russia several weeks ago, and that it had immediately suspended future business in compliance with sanctions that prohibit transactions and work.

Jeff Miller, its chairman, president, and CEO, said that the war in Ukraine deeply saddens them.

The conflict greatly impacts our people, their families, and loved ones throughout the region, as we have employees in both Ukraine and Russia. Since the beginning of the conflict, we have prioritized employee safety and compliance.

Insider requested comment from Baker Hughes outside of normal working hours.

Major companies such as ExxonMobil, BP, and Shell have pulled out of Russia, while McDonald's has been unable to do so.
