A 10-year-old Chinese girl in Zibo, a city in China's Shandong Province, has been selling sweet potatoes on the street to raise money for her sister's cancer treatment.

The 10-year-old can be seen in Sohu News footage wearing her school uniform while completing her homework and sitting outside by a bundle of sweet potatoes marked for sale.

While her parents have been in Jinan to care for her sister, little Mei has been staying with her grandmother in Zibo.

Li Ling told the South China Morning Post that her husband quit his job to care for the baby, and that the family lost their only source of income. The family went into debt after crowdfunding $8,250, but still do not have enough money to pay for all of the cancer treatments.

Little Mei decided to sell sweet potatoes after school to help her family out.

She told Sohu News that her parents are in Jinan taking care of her sister, so she comes here to sell sweet potatoes.

On nights when customers stop to buy sweet potatoes, the 5-year-old sister tags along with her sister.

Li was unaware that her daughter was selling sweet potatoes until she received a phone call from a customer requesting a large order of them. Her daughter was selling vegetables, but neither she nor her grandmother mentioned it.

Although Li is proud to see her daughter doing good things, she also felt sad that Little Mei was selling things in the cold.

When they will return home is a question Little Mei often asks her parents. Li feels guilty about the uncertainty of when they will be able to return as a result of their cancer treatments.
