A private investigator found that a drug lord shot David Ortiz in June of 2019.

The Boston Globe's Bob Hohler reported that Ed Davis, a former police commissioner in Boston, conducted a six-month investigation.

According to Hohler, the attorney for Peralta denied the allegation and said he had nothing to do with the attempt on the life of the man. The Hall of Famer denied that the relationship he had with Peralta was as close as Perez said it was.

He was shot in the back in his native Dominican Republic. He had his bladder and part of his intestine removed after he was taken to the hospital.

The Dominican authorities said at the time that seven men had been paid to execute the attack.

Prado was part of the investigation into the shooting. He claimed that the Dominican officials forwarded the mistaken identity idea as part of a cover-up.

If Peralta went down, many people in the government were going to go down, so the attorney general was trying to make that happen.

Despite all of the information Davis gleaned from his investigation, Hohler wrote that it was not clear why Peralta would order the death of Ortiz.

The first pitch was thrown at the Red Sox game in September of 2019.
