They say "never meet your heroes" because reality never really lives up to what we imagine in our heads, but you might break one of said hero's prized possessions, it seems pretty scary.
It was a nightmare for Daniel Radcliffe as he prepared to play the lead role in a movie about Weird Al. After sharing the story of how he got cast during a Friday appearance on The Tonight Show, host Jimmy Fallon held up a picture of the Miracle Workers star posing with one of the accordions.
When he saw the picture, he told a story about how he was given the accordion to practice on as part of his preparation for the role. He got to spend a month noodling with the instrument and get a feel for it, but that blessed month almost went off the rails right at the start.
The game was interrupted by groans of worry and concern from the audience as Radcliffe explained that he broke one of the straps.
It wasn't a big deal at all. The straps were replaced immediately, thanks in part to the fact that he is who he is.
Weird: The Weird Al Yankovic story was announced in 2022. The movie is in production and there is no release date yet. In the rest of the Tonight clip, you can hear how he ended up being cast in the lead role.
