Golden State Warriors center James Wiseman has had to delay his return to game action because of swelling in his knee.
The Santa Cruz Warriors G League will not have Wiseman in their games this weekend.
There isn't a clear timetable for when he will be able to return to team activities.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr said that they would take a pause and see how the knee responds.
With just 12 regular-season games to go, Kerr says the team is running out of time to get him on the court.
Kerr said that they couldn't make a decision based on the schedule. Every decision should be made about James and his future.
The focus of the Warriors next season will be on getting him ready to be a factor, as sources told ESPN last month that if he was healthy, he would not be a part of the playoff rotation. His latest speedbump makes this mindset more likely.
He played in 39 NBA games before tearing his knee. He had a scope procedure in December because of the swelling that slowed his progress after the initial repair surgery.
The swelling started a few days ago, and was brought to the attention of the team. The training staff decided it would be best to keep him out of basketball activities.
Kerr said that he felt terrible for James. He has his whole future ahead of him. We have to be very cautious. We have to do what is best for him.
