Stafford had a cap hit of $23 million, which ranked him 11th among quarterbacks for 2022, according to Spotrac.
After 12 seasons with the Detroit Lions, he was traded to L.A. He was often overlooked as a top quarterback due to a lack of team success, despite posting impressive individual numbers.
Only one Pro Bowl selection was earned by Stafford, who reached the playoffs three times in Detroit.
The Georgia product was with the Rams for just one season, and he had 4,886 passing yards and 41 touchdown. The team finished with a 12-5 record and he had his best quarterback rating of the season.
A strong playoff run was enough to lift the Rams to a championship, including 283 passing yards and three touchdown in the Super Bowl win. The quarterback engineered a 15-play, 79-yard touchdown drive to give his team the lead.
The Rams will keep Stafford under contract after he proves himself on the field. His new deal will last through the year of 2026.
Los Angeles will continue to produce one of the league's most explosive offenses with the additions of Cooper Kupp, Allen Robinson II and other top weapons.
