Volkswagen recalled 246,000 Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport SUVs in the US and Canada because of a wiring issue that could cause problems.

According to a report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, if the wiring of the cars is damaged, the airbags could deploy later than they were designed to.

The wiring issue could cause other problems in the cars, including the vehicle's windows rolling down on their own and its electronic parking brake inadvertently engaging at low speeds.

Volkswagen will offer a reimbursement program for recalled vehicles, however the company does not have a fix for the issue.

The recall includes the Volkswagen Atlas as well as the Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport.

If Volkswagen's vehicles are included in the recall, owners and dealers will be notified by mail. When a fix is developed, the company will reach out again so owners can bring in their SUVs for repair.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has a website where owners can check if their car is included in the recall.
